Shangri-La Hotel Online Energy Monitoring System

The hospitality industry, especially high-end hotels like Shangri-La, places a strong emphasis on energy management. Efficient energy monitoring and management not only help reduce operational costs but also enhance guest experiences by ensuring stable power supply and high-quality facilities. Shangri-La Hotels in Sri Lanka aim to centralize the management and unify the operation and maintenance of over 10 properties under its brand. It also pays close attention to power instability and electrical aging caused by harmonic distortion, as these factors can negatively impact guest experiences. The Shangri-La Hotel Sri Lanka online energy monitoring project covers over 500 monitoring points, with a project value exceeding $100,000. It is one of the largest energy monitoring projects in the hospitality industry in Sri Lanka.

    Customer Pain Points

Unified Management Challenge: Managing energy consumption across multiple hotels in a centralized manner is difficult. Real-time data acquisition and analysis are hard to achieve, leading to information silos that affect decision-making and operational efficiency.
Power Quality Issues: Harmonic distortion in electrical systems can cause power instability and accelerate electrical aging. This not only shortens the lifespan of electrical equipment but may also lead to unexpected power outages, disrupting guest experiences.
Complex System Integration: Integrating multiple energy meters and monitoring systems from different hotels into a single platform is technically complex and requires professional support.
High Operational Costs: Traditional energy management methods involve significant labor and time costs for data collection and analysis, increasing operational expenses.

    Acrel Solution

    Energy Meters:
ADL400 Three-phase DIN Rail Energy Meter: Measures three-phase AC power parameters with high precision. Supports multiple communication methods and functions, making it suitable for various energy monitoring scenarios in hotels.
ADL3000-E Multi-Function Energy Meter: Equipped with advanced harmonic monitoring capabilities, it can precisely measure and analyze harmonic distortion in electrical systems. This helps identify and address power quality issues, preventing electrical aging and power instability. It also monitors parameters like kWh, kVarh, current, voltage, and power.
    Current Transformers:
AKH Open-type Current Transformers: Easy to install and suitable for retrofit projects. They accurately measure current signals and transmit them to energy meters for precise energy consumption monitoring.
    Gateway:
AWT100 IoT Smart Gateway: Supports multiple upstream and downstream communication methods and protocols. It connects to Acrel devices via RS485 (MODBUS-RTU) and serves as a bridge between energy meters and the IoT EMS Platform.
    IoT EMS Platform:
The platform provides real-time monitoring and energy analysis functions. It enables centralized management of energy consumption across multiple hotels, allowing staff to access real-time data and generate reports for analysis.
